Nicola Adams has told Sports Mole that it meant "absolutely everything" to win gold at the Commonwealth Games this afternoon.

The Team England boxer, who won the Olympics in 2012, overcame Northern Ireland's Michaela Walsh in the women's flyweight final in Glasgow.

"It means absolutely everything to me. I am so happy, just ecstatic. It has really made my day again," said Adams following the bout.

"The atmosphere was absolutely amazing to be honest, I would just like to thank everyone that came to the arena and everybody watching at home, the support has been amazing all the way through the Games."

Adams also discussed her opponent, who has been tipped for big things in the future.

"She was really good. Really talented and definitely one to watch in the future," she added.

Adams is not expected to consider a professional career until after the 2016 Olympics.
