Alesha Dixon returns to the UK after filming of Australia's Got Talent is postponed due to new coronavirus restrictions down under.

Alesha Dixon has returned to the UK after filming of Australia's Got Talent was cancelled because of new coronavirus restrictions.

With Britain's Got Talent axed for 2021, Dixon joined the judging panel of the Australian version and earlier this month made the trip to Sydney with her husband and two young daughters.

After completing the mandatory two-week quarantine, she was poised to begin filming but a sudden spate of lockdowns across the country led to Aussie broadcaster Seven postponing the show.

Dixon told The Mirror: "Obviously it's extremely disappointing that filming of the show has been postponed due to the outbreak of COVID in Australia, but the safety of the audience, talent and crew is the priority.

"The production team from AGT have been fantastic and looked at every option to try and make the show work, but unfortunately it's impossible to do it and keep everyone safe. I look forward to returning once it is safe to do so.

"I'd like to thank the fantastic team at Seven network for looking after us so well and making me feel so welcome in Australia."

Britain's Got Talent, meanwhile, is expected to return to the ITV schedules for a new series next Spring.
