Channel 5 confirms that it has no plans to drop Home and Away after the shock decision to axe Neighbours.

Channel 5 has confirmed that Home and Away has 'a continuing home' on the station for the time being.

Last week the broadcaster announced its shock decision to axe Neighbours, effectively condemning the long-running soap to come to an end this summer unless another UK network swoops in.

The move left Home and Away fans concerned over its own future - especially as it brings in only half the audience managed by Neighbours - but C5 has now moved to quell the speculation.

A spokesperson told The Sun: "Home and Away has broadcast on Channel 5 since 2000, and it has a longstanding and continuing home on the channel.

"It will continue to air on Channel 5 on weekdays at 1:15pm and on 5STAR at 6pm, with a first look on 5STAR every weekday at 6:30pm."

First shown in January 1988, Home and Away marked 34 years on the air last month.
