'Line of Duty' stars deliver coronavirus message from AC-12

Line of Duty's Martin Compston and Vicky McClure record a special message urging fans to stay at home during the coronavirus crisis.

Line of Duty actors Martin Compston and Vicky McClure have recorded a special video message urging fans to stay at home during the coronavirus crisis.

The stars of the hit BBC drama appeared in a conference call alongside 'Hastings' and the mysterious 'H', both of whom failed to answer the phone.

Compston said: "Hi everybody, it's AC-12 here. Unfortunately, we couldn't be joined by the gaffa because he doesn't have Skype or own a computer.

"We just wanted to say a massive thank you to all our incredible NHS staff, I can say without hesitation, you are the very best of us and I hope you know how appreciated you are."

McClure - Compston's colleague DCI Fleming in the show - added: "To everybody in the frontline staff, everybody going out there and risking their lives, we wanted to say a massive thank you and reiterate the messages that are already out there.

"We know you know the message loud and clear stay at home and wash your hands, but it doesn't hurt to remind."

Series six of the show had begun filming in February but production was halted last month due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has killed almost 53,000 people worldwide to date.
