Neighbours announces a new family, the Varga-Murphys, ahead of the soap's return in September.

The upcoming return of Neighbours will see a new family, the Varga-Murphys, introduced to the soap.

The four-strong family comprises mums Remi (Naomi Rukavina) and Cara (Sara West) and their teenage sons JJ (Riley Bryant) and Dex (Marley Williams) - but their arrival also heralds a mystery as one of the family has "ulterior motives" for moving to Erinsborough.

Remi works as a doctor who is described as "the calming presence during a storm", while her wife Cara is a fun-loving tradie who is "fierce, loyal and protective when it comes to her family".

Meanwhile, Dex is a deep-thinking young man who always tries to keep the peace, whereas his brother JJ is a confident and self-assured teen who tends to think with his heart over his head, usually resulting in trouble.

"We are delighted to welcome the Varga-Murphy family to Ramsay Street and the amazing cast portraying them," said exec producer Jason Herbison.

"It feels fitting that the new season will herald the arrival of a new household, with many new stories to tell. They have fitted into Erinsborough beautifully - they are warm, fun and also very unpredictable."

Having ended its 37-year run last summer, Neighbours will return this September with new episodes exclusively on Amazon Freevee.
