Jamie Laing lands a new job on Radio 1 standing in for Mollie King as she goes on maternity leave.

Jamie Laing has been named as Mollie King's replacement on Radio 1 while she heads off on maternity leave.

The former The Saturdays singer is taking time off from the station as she prepares to welcome her first child with cricketer fiancé Stuart Broad in the coming weeks.

Laing, a previous star of Made In Chelsea and a finalist of Strictly Come Dancing in 2020, will sit in for King alongside Matt Edmondson on their 1pm-4pm show from Fridays to Sundays for the foreseeable.

"I'm going to miss Mollie so much whilst she's on 'Matt Leave', and although she is literally irreplaceable, we are going to temporarily replace her," said Edmondson.

"All I asked for was someone funny, blonde, and a little bit posh, and the universe delivered in the shape of Jamie Laing!

"I'm a huge fan of Jamie's and I'm so pleased he's agreed to step in and co-host the show with me after several begging emails."

Laing and Edmondson will present their first show together this Friday, October 28.
