The winner of Survivor UK and the £100,000 cash prize is revealed.

Matthew Haywood has been revealed as the winner of Survivor UK for 2023.

The 21-year-old - a hospitality worker from Cumbria - made it through to the final three alongside Leilani Sen and immunity winner Christopher Haul as they teamed up to vote off Hannah Baptiste.

After grilling the trio on why they should win, the eight members of the jury then cast their votes for the winner - and Haywood's triumph was confirmed with six votes, with the other two garnering one vote apiece.

As well as earning the title of sole survivor, he also walks away with the cash prize of £100,000.

"I'm honestly so proud of myself!" he said afterwards. "Playing Survivor was such an amazing experience, it was really intense. I put everything I had into the game and the experience as a whole, so to be the sole Survivor is such an honour.

"34 days living on a beach tested me in so many different ways, there were so many physical, mental and emotional battles that come with an experience as tense as this and I really discovered how resilient I am, and when fight or flight came into play I definitely fought."

The BBC has yet to confirm whether the show will return for a new series in 2024, although it has been a decent - if unspectacular - performer in the ratings, averaging around 3 million viewers.
