The BBC opens applications for series 17 of The Apprentice ahead of series 16 beginning next month.

The BBC has opened up applications for the upcoming 17th series of The Apprentice.

After a break of more than two years due to coronavirus, the show returns to BBC One for its 16th series early next month.

The news that applications are already open for the next series suggests that two series could air in 2022, with series 17 likely to air in the show's regular October to December timeframe.

Prospective candidates are asked to apply for the series through an online form and are also required to upload a short video explaining why they should be on the show.

Series 17 could mark the return of Claude Littner as Lord Sugar's advisor after he was forced to pull out of series 16 due to illness.
