Stephen 'tWitch' Boss - long-time DJ on The Ellen DeGeneres Show - dies at the age of 40 of an apparent suicide.

Stephen 'tWitch' Boss, the long-time DJ on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, has died at the age of 40.

The star - a former contestant on So You Think You Can Dance - served as the resident DJ on Ellen's show from 2014 until it ended in 2022, also working as executive producer for the final two years of the show's run.

According to TMZ, Boss's body was discovered at a Los Angeles hotel by police on Tuesday morning after his wife Allison Holker reported him as missing.

The publication said that the cause of death appears to have been suicide by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

In a statement, Holker said: "Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him.

"He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.

"To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt. I am certain there won't be a day that goes by that we won't honor his memory.

"Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you."

Boss is survived by his wife and their three children.
