Houssem Aouar 'open to leaving Lyon amid Liverpool links'

Houssem Aouar remains open to a departure from Lyon amid links with Liverpool and Arsenal, according to a report.

Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar is reportedly still open to a departure from the Groupama Stadium amid links with a Premier League move.

The France international was tipped to complete a transfer to Arsenal last summer, but the Gunners and Lyon could not reach an agreement and he stayed put with the Ligue 1 giants.

However, Aouar is yet to pen an extension on his current Gones deal - which expires in 2023 - and he supposedly remains a target for both Arsenal and Liverpool.

Now, L'Equipe reports that the 22-year-old could be open to leaving Lyon this summer, with Rudi Garcia's side slipping out of the title race in Ligue 1 during the past few weeks.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has affirmed that Aouar will be allowed to leave for the right price, but Arsenal may struggle to lure the midfielder to the Emirates without European football.

Aouar has scored six goals and provided three assists in 28 Ligue 1 matches this term, but he has struggled to force his way into the starting lineup in recent weeks.
