Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta rules out a reunion with Manchester City striker and soon-to-be free agent Sergio Aguero at the Emirates.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has brushed off rumours that the Gunners could attempt to sign Sergio Aguero this summer.

Manchester City's record goalscorer is confirmed to be leaving the club when his deal expires at the end of the season, and multiple sides in Europe are expected to battle it out for his signature on a free transfer, despite his age and recent injury problems.

Arteta worked with the Argentine during his time as Pep Guardiola's assistant at Man City, but the Spaniard has ruled Arsenal out of the running to sign Aguero for the 2021-22 campaign.

When asked by reporters about a possible move for Aguero during a press conference, Arteta said: "No, no, no... we will see what happens with him in the future.

"Sergio has a unique quality to see spaces where nobody else can see and score goals in a really easy way so I am sure that he will find the right next project."

Arteta's comments come at a time where Eddie Nketiah, Folarin Balogun and Alexandre Lacazette's futures at the club are all up in the air, but the Gunners boss has confirmed that talks will be held with Lacazette over his contract situation this summer.
