Shakhtar Donetsk attacker Mykhaylo Mudryk suggests that an offer to join Arsenal in January would be too good to turn down.

Shakhtar Donetsk attacker Mykhaylo Mudryk has suggested that an offer to join Arsenal in January would be too good to turn down.

The 21-year-old emerged as a potential target for the Gunners towards the end of the summer transfer window, but a move to North London failed to materialise.

Mudryk has made a bright start to the new campaign and contributed with one goal and two assists in Shakhtar's impressive 4-1 away victory over RB Leipzig in their opening Champions League group game on Tuesday.

A recent report claims that Shakhtar will only consider offers of at least €50m (£43m) for the youngster, who is regarded as a 'potential star of the future'.

Speaking in an interview with CBS Sports, Mudrryk revealed how he came close to leaving the Ukrainian giants this summer.

"In winter we will see. There were a lot of discussions about a transfer, about clubs who want me, but it's normal," said the forward.

"I'm in Shakthar and I want to play in this team, I love every player in this team. Shakhtar for me right now is my home. For me it's very important that all my thoughts [are on] Shakhtar, but in winter we will see."

When asked whether he would like to play in the Premier League, Mudryk added: "Yes. I think every guy dreams about the Premier League."

Mudryk was also questioned about a potential switch to the Emirates Stadium, and he replied: "Yes yes, it's hard to say but Arsenal is a very good team. Very good coach, I like the way they play."

Mikel Arteta's side are not the only club who have been credited with an interest in Mudryk, as Brentford are also believed to be keeping tabs on the youngster, who still has four years remaining on his contract.

Since making his professional debut for Shakhtar in October 2018, Mudryk has developed into a first-team regular for the Ukrainian side and has recorded three goals and 12 assists in 30 appearances across all competitions.

Mudryk, who primarily operates as a left winger, has also represented the Ukraine national team on five occasions, including three starts in the UEFA Nations League in June.

Arsenal, who made five signings over the summer, began their Europa League campaign with a 2-1 win over FC Zurich on Thursday, which saw debutant Marquinhos get on the scoresheet before setting up Eddie Nketiah in the second half.
