Report: Nicolo Barella turns down Chelsea move for family reasons

A report claims that Nicola Barella is to turn down a move to Chelsea and stay at Cagliari until at least the end of the season.

Chelsea target Nicolo Barella intends to stay at Cagliari for the rest of the season for family reasons, according to a report.

The 21-year-old has also recently emerged as a target for Arsenal and Napoli after impressing with his displays in Serie A this term.

Premier League side Chelsea were said to be prepared to meet Cagliari's £45m valuation for the Italy international, but Tuttomercato claims that they will have to look elsewhere for Cesc Fabregas's replacement.

Barella is said to be keen to remain in Italy for the time being and will reevaluate his options in the summer, with Napoli now appearing the favourites to sign him.

Italian football legend Andrea Pirlo has previously described Barella as "one of the best players" in Serie A.
