West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing Hellas Verona forward Giovanni Simeone, the son of Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone.

The 26-year-old has been in fine form for the Italian outfit this campaign, scoring nine goals in 11 Serie A appearances, including seven strikes in five games last month.

According to the Daily Express, Simeone has been on West Ham's radar for some time and he is now believed to be at the top of their striker shortlist ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

The report adds that the Hammers negotiated a potential loan deal over the summer for the Argentine, including a £14m option to buy, however the transfer failed to materialise.

Instead, Hellas Verona recruited Simeone on loan from parent club Cagliari and they have the option to make the deal permanent next summer for around £10.2m.

Following the departure of Sebastien Haller to Ajax back in January, David Moyes remains in the market for a new centre-forward, to provide more competition for talisman Michail Antonio.

West Ham have also been linked with Clermont striker Mohamed Bayo, as well as Arsenal's Alexandre Lacazette and Real Madrid's Luka Jovic.
