How Bayern Munich could line up against Barcelona

Sports Mole looks at how Bayern Munich could line up in Friday's Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona.

Bayern Munich's search for their first Champions League title since 2013 will continue on Friday night when they face Barcelona in the quarter-finals of the competition.

The Bundesliga champions made light work of Chelsea in the round of 16, beating the English outfit 7-1 on aggregate to ensure that they would be present in the last eight.

Barca are Bayern's opponents in the next round as two of the biggest sides in Europe prepared to lock horns, before a potential semi-final against either Manchester City or Lyon.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the German side could line up in Portugal.

POSS BAY XI vs. BAR

Out: Benjamin Pavard (ankle), Joshua Zirkzee (foot)
Doubtful: Jerome Boateng (thigh), Kingsley Coman (muscle)

Bayern had concerns over the fitness of Jerome Boateng and Kingsley Coman, with the latter missing out against Chelsea due to a muscular problem, while the former was taken off against the Blues with a thigh issue.

Both players are expected to be fit for Friday's contest, though, and Coman could come in for Ivan Perisic in potentially the only change to the side that started against Frank Lampard's outfit.

Serge Gnabry, Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski are all certain starters in attack, while Benjamin Pavard's ongoing absence through injury means that Joshua Kimmich should continue at right-back.

Thiago Alcantara continues to be linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena but should again join Leon Goretzka in the middle of the park.

Philippe Coutinho - available to face his parent club - and Javi Martinez are both pushing for starts, but it seems unlikely that head coach Hansi Flick will make many alterations from the side that comfortably dispatched Chelsea in the round of 16, with Alphonso Davies also set to start despite missing Wednesday's training session as a precaution.
