Hansi Flick is reportedly doing everything possible to put himself in contention to manage Barcelona.

Last month, Xavi made the surprise announcement that he intends to relinquish his position in the dugout at the end of the season.

While the Spaniard is currently focused on delivering Champions League football for next season, as well as attempting to win this season's competition, work is underway to find his successor.

A wide array of names have been linked with the soon-to-be-vacant position, despite no decision expected for the foreseeable future.

Although his stint at Germany boss ended in failure, Flick is among the alleged candidates that have admirers behind the scenes at Camp Nou.

According to BILD journalist Christian Falk, who was commenting on X, Flick has made the move to learn Spanish over the coming months.

Aside from a brief spell as assistant manager at Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg, Flick has spent his entire managerial career in his homeland.

However, Falk says that the 58-year-old is interested in becoming the next boss of Barcelona as he waits to take on a new challenge.

During an 86-game stint with Bayern Munich between November 2019 and June 2021, Flick won 70 matches and seven pieces of silverware, including two Bundesliga titles and one Champions League trophy.

As it stands, there has been no indication over who president Joan Laporta may appoint as Xavi's replacement, with Arsenal's Mikel Arteta remaining as the bookmakers' favourite.

That is despite Arteta publicly insisting that any reports linking him with the position is "fake news" with his priority said to be continuing his project at the Emirates Stadium.

Rafael Marquez, a Barcelona legend and manager of Barcelona Atletic, is another name said to be in the frame, while Jurgen Klopp is an outside candidate.

Barcelona have enjoyed a better week on the pitch, beating each of Osasuna and Alaves to move within eight points of La Liga leaders Real Madrid with 15 matches remaining.
