Barcelona reportedly see Ronald Koeman's position as manager as safe, despite a 2-1 defeat in El Clasico to Real Madrid at the Camp Nou on Sunday.

Barcelona have reportedly made the decision to stick with manager Ronald Koeman after a 2-1 defeat to rivals Real Madrid in El Clasico at the Camp Nou on Sunday.

David Alaba gave Los Blancos a one-goal lead in the first half, and Sergio Aguero's 97th-minute effort was not enough to salvage a result after Lucas Vazquez had added a second for the visitors.

According to Spanish outlet Marca, the Catalan giants did not see the performance as embarrassing and will continue to back the Dutchman, although the next three games are reportedly vital for the manager to stay in favour.

Barca travel to Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday, before hosting strugglers Alaves and returning to Champions League action with a clash against Dynamo Kiev.

Koeman's position is said to be being monitored after a mixed start to the season, with the 26-time La Liga champions currently sitting in ninth spot and having won just one of their opening three Champions League group games.

The former Everton boss was appointed at the beginning of last season and saw the Blaugrana drop out of a late title race and fall out of the Champions League at the round of 16 stage, although they did salvage some silverware by winning the Copa del Rey.
