Brighton & Hove Albion complete the signing of Czech Republic international striker Jiri Skalak.

Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of Czech Republic international forward Jiri Skalak.

The 23-year-old joins the Championship outfit from FK Mlada Boleslav, who he joined in 2015 having failed to break into the Sparta Prague first team.

Skalak has arrived at the Seagulls for an undisclosed fee on a three-and-a-half-year deal that keeps him at the Amex Stadium until June 2019.

"Jiri is a versatile forward, who is capable of scoring goals. He is a player who is able to play in any of the forward positions, and increases our attacking options for the second half of the season," Brighton boss Chris Hughton told the club's official website.

"He's a skilful and technical player, a full international, and has represented his country at every level. He has played in the top division in the Czech Republic and the Europa League.

"He is also someone we have been monitoring for some time, so we are delighted to have completed the transfer and to welcome Jiri to the club."

Skalak, who will wear the No.38 shirt at Brighton, has scored six goals in 16 matches so far this season and could make his debut against Brentford on Friday.
