Jordi Alba: 'Alvaro Morata very welcome at Barcelona'

Barcelona defender Jordi Alba says that Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata "would be very welcome" at Camp Nou.

Barcelona defender Jordi Alba has said that Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata "would be very welcome" at Camp Nou.

Morata, 26, has reportedly been 'in touch' with Barcelona in recent days over a potential return to Spain.

The striker joined Chelsea from Real Madrid in the summer of 2017 and has scored 27 times in 94 appearances for his English club in all competitions.

The Spaniard has managed seven goals in 21 appearances for the Blues this term, but his future at Stamford Bridge is believed to be far from secure.

Alba has played alongside Morata for Spain, and the experienced defender has talked up a potential move to Camp Nou for the former Los Blancos forward.

"Morata is a player that I appreciate a lot, he has been a top player for many years. At the end, it's the club's [decision] if they want to sign him or not, as with any other player," Alba told reporters.

"If the rumours are true, he would be very welcome, as all the new players [are]."

Barcelona have also been linked with a swoop for Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane.
