Chelsea's deadline day signing of Cole Palmer takes their spending in three transfer windows under Todd Boehly to more than £1bn.

Chelsea have now spent more than £1bn on new players since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took over the club.

This summer is the third transfer window for the Blues since the American succeeded Roman Abramovich as owner, and they have been very busy in each of those.

A £40m deal to sign Cole Palmer on deadline day took Chelsea's spending for the current transfer window past the £400m mark, and to £1.02bn overall since Boehly arrived when counting potential add-ons in fees.

Most of those signings have been defined by the lengthy contracts Chelsea have handed them, with the Blues making a habit of agreeing seven or eight-year deals.

Palmer, who joins from Manchester City, is the latest example, with the youngster penning a seven-year contract on Friday.

In total, Chelsea have now signed 31 players in the Boehly era, with 10 of those fetching at least £40m.

The Londoners have also broken the British record transfer fee twice in the last two windows, bringing in Enzo Fernandez from Benfica in January and Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion this summer.

Chelsea's £419m outlay during the current window means that Mauricio Pochettino has already spent more in one summer as manager than he did throughout his five years and 11 windows in charge at Tottenham Hotspur.

Pochettino spent £412m during his time in North London, with his biggest individual signing being Tanguy Ndombele for around £55.5m.
