Alvaro Morata may reportedly be sent back to Chelsea less than six months after joining Atletico Madrid on loan after failing to make enough of an impact in La Liga.

Atletico Madrid will consider terminating the loan contract of Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata, according to a report.

The Spain international joined Atletico on an 18-month loan deal in January that contained the option of making the move permanent for £15m.

Morata has scored just six goals in 17 appearances since joining, however, and Spanish outlet AS claims that Diego Simeone may cut his losses less than half a year after pushing for the signing.

Simeone is said to be looking elsewhere for a more prolific striker, especially with concerns growing over the future of Barcelona-linked Antoine Griezmann.

Chelsea are unable to sign any new players for the next two transfer windows, but they already have Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi returning from loan spells.
