Denmark coach Morten Olsen says that tonight's humbling home defeat to Armenia could be the worst night of his career.

Denmark coach Morten Olsen has said that tonight's humbling by unfancied Armenia could be the worst night of his career.

The Danes were trounced 4-0 in Copenhagen to leave their hopes of qualifying for next year's World Cup in bits.

"I have no great analysis to offer," said Olsen. "The only thing I will say is that it is 100% my responsibility. There's no doubt about that. This is incomprehensible. It is arguably very close to being the worst night of my career."

Denmark now find themselves four points behind second-placed Bulgaria in Group B and Olsen now doubts that they can reach Brazil 2014.

"After this I do not think we are fighting to be at a World Cup," he said. "There was great optimism before the game and we had opportunities but, after this match, I can't really see it. Realistically, it will be difficult."

Italy lead the group by four points ahead of Bulgaria.
