Liverpool are reportedly showing interest in out-of-favour Derby County goalkeeper David Marshall, as a back-up to number one Alisson Becker.

Liverpool have reportedly set their sights on signing Derby County goalkeeper David Marshall as an experienced back-up to number one Alisson Becker.

The 36-year-old earned his position as Scotland's main keeper for their Euro 2020 campaign in June, but has fallen down the pecking order at Pride Park, missing out on every Championship fixture so far this season.

As a result, Steve Clarke has not included the goalkeeper in his squad for the international fixtures coming up next week, but Marshall could seal a move to Anfield before Tuesday's deadline.

According to The Mirror, Jurgen Klopp is interested in signing Marshall as a back-up to Alisson, despite current second keeper Adrian signing a contract extension earlier this summer.

Marshall has played 53 times in the Premier League for Cardiff City and Hull City, but the majority of his experience has come in the Championship, where he has kept 133 clean sheets in 438 appearances in his career.

The goalkeeper arrived at Derby in 2020 and made 33 appearances for the Rams during the 2020-21 campaign.
