Thiago Alcantara, who has missed the majority of the season through injury, has reportedly instructed his agent to find him a move away from Anfield in the summer.

Thiago Alcantara has reportedly instructed his agent to find him a move away from Anfield in the upcoming summer transfer market.

The 33-year-old midfielder arrived at Liverpool in the autumn of 2020, only a month after winning the Champions League title with Bayern Munich.

However, his time in England has been significantly disrupted by injuries. The Spaniard suffered an injury against West Ham last April, which kept him out for the rest of the year, and despite briefly returning for a cameo in the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on February 4, he experienced another setback and has not played since.

With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, the chances of an extension beyond the summer seem highly unlikely.

Thiago seeks new challenge ahead of 2024-25 season

With no indication from the club of a potential new deal, Thiago has now instructed his agent to find him a new club for the 2024-25 season, according to Football Insider.

The report adds that Liverpool are not expecting him to stay beyond the summer and suggests that the Spaniard's five-minute appearance as a substitute during their league match against Arsenal in February could be his last in a Reds jersey.

In 98 appearances for the club, the 33-year-old managed just three goals and six assists, though he showcased his exceptional talent on numerous occasions.

Still, given his lack of game time in recent seasons, as well as his age and injury record, bigger clubs across Europe may be hesitant to move for him, especially if he is expecting a £200,000-per-week contract like the one he currently has with the Reds.

Other players likely to depart Anfield in the summer are Adrian and Joel Matip, both of whom will see their contracts with the Reds expire on June 30.

Jurgen Klopp's side suffered a costly defeat against Crystal Palace last weekend. With six games to go in his final season on Merseyside, they remain two points behind Manchester City in the Premier League standings.

The Reds will be back in action on Thursday night when they try to overturn a 3-0 deficit against Atalanta in their Europa League second-leg quarter-final tie at the Gewiss Stadium.
