Cristiano Ronaldo allegedly did not want to see Manchester United-linked Antonio Conte return to the Juventus dugout in 2019.

Cristiano Ronaldo did not want to see Antonio Conte return to the Juventus hotseat after Massimiliano Allegri's departure, according to a report.

The 52-year-old is rumoured to be the number one target to take over at Manchester United, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now thought to be at risk of the sack.

Conte was briefly linked with a return to Juventus as Allegri's successor before joining Inter Milan in 2019, as the Old Lady hired Maurizio Sarri before handing Andrea Pirlo control of the reins.

According to La Repubblica, Ronaldo was against the idea of Conte returning to Juventus two years ago, with the Italian not afraid to rest and rotate big-name superstars.

The report adds that Ronaldo was also unconvinced by Conte's defensive style of playing, but there is not thought to have been any contact with the ex-Chelsea and Inter boss over taking control at United just yet.

Conte won four Scudettos during his time in Italy with Juve and Inter, and he would supposedly demand a yearly salary of £10m to succeed Solskjaer at Man United.
