Antonio Conte: 'Christian Eriksen not leaving Inter Milan this month'

Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte insists that Christian Eriksen will not be leaving San Siro before the end of the month.

Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte has insisted that Christian Eriksen will not be leaving San Siro before the end of the January transfer window.

The Denmark international has largely struggled to make his mark for Inter since arriving from Tottenham Hotspur last January and continues to be linked with a move away from the Serie A side.

Manchester United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are among those to be credited with an interest in the 28-year-old.

Eriksen scored a late free kick in Inter's 2-1 win over bitter rivals AC Milan in the Coppa Italia on Tuesday night, though, and Conte insisted after the match that the attacker is not leaving this month.

"For a month now I've been saying the same thing: this is the Inter squad. Nobody will arrive, nobody will leave. I keep saying it and nobody seems to believe me," Conte told RAI Sport.

"We are working with Eriksen on a tactical level to find an alternative for [Marcelo] Brozovic, because we don't have someone like that in the squad.

"Christian is a very intelligent lad, he has quality, he's part of the project and I am happy he scored that goal. I really wanted him to take it, as we all know the quality he has from set plays."

Eriksen's current deal at San Siro is due to run until June 2024.
