Juventus chief: 'Re-signing Paul Pogba is a fantasy'

Juventus chief executive Giuseppe Marotta plays down talk of the Italian champions being interested in re-signing Paul Pogba from Manchester United.

Juventus chief executive Giuseppe Marotta has appeared to rule out a move for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, dismissing recent speculation as "fantasy".

The France international was tipped to rejoin the club he departed two years ago after refusing to commit his long-term future to United when probed last weekend.

Italian champions Juve would have to pay up a huge sum to bring Pogba back to the Allianz Stadium this summer, however, and Marotta has suggested that a transfer simply will not materialise.

"Now we are in the most important phase of the transfer market, so as always, every day, they link Juventus with many players," he is quoted as saying by Manchester Evening News.

Asked specifically about Pogba, Marotta replied: "Fantasy football!"

Pogba played 178 times during his four seasons with Juventus, winning four Serie A titles and two Coppa Italia crowns.
