Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly both ready to pounce if Serge Gnabry fails to extend his contract with Bayern Munich beyond 2023.

Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly both plotting to move for unsettled Bayern Munich attacker Serge Gnabry.

The former Arsenal youngster has established himself as a consistent goalscorer for the Bavarian giants but has now entered the final 18 months of his contract with Julian Nagelsmann's side.

Bayern are thought to be desperate to tie Gnabry down to fresh terms at the Allianz Arena, but talks over a new contract are yet to bear fruit as the 26-year-old holds out for a higher salary.

According to Sky Deutschland, Liverpool and Man United will both hope to tempt Gnabry back to England should he fail to extend his Bayern deal, although the two clubs still expect the Germany international to pen fresh terms.

The report adds that Gnabry is keen to remain in Bavaria for at least another four years, but the attacker wants to be paid more than Kingsley Coman and Leroy Sane, both of whom are on a reported €15m (£12.7m) per year without add-ons.

Gnabry has registered 12 goals and seven assists in 27 appearances for Bayern this season, and Real Madrid and Barcelona have also been credited with an interest in the ex-Gunner.
