Villarreal defender Pau Torres is a summer transfer target for Real Madrid, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, according to a report.

Real Madrid, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly all interested in signing Villarreal defender Pau Torres during this summer's transfer window.

The 26-year-old's future has been the subject of speculation over the last few transfer windows, with Manchester United heavily linked with his services last year.

The Red Devils had allegedly been on the verge of signing the Spain international before incoming head coach Erik ten Hag put the brakes on in order to concentrate on signing Lisandro Martinez from Ajax.

Spurs were also believed to be close to signing Torres in the summer of 2021, but the centre-back decided to remain at Villarreal in order to represent the club in the Champions League.

"Right now there is nothing at all, there is talk of many things like every year, I have peace of mind of being where they want me, at the club of my life and I have this offer right now that I value as very positive," AS quoted Torres as saying at the time.

"There is nothing right now, the only thing I have is the offer from Villarreal, so I am very calm."

Torres later told The Guardian: "The pull of playing the Champions League with the team from my town was bigger. I was clear from the start.

"This is only the fourth time Villarreal reached the Champions League, which shows how hard it is, and it was a dream to play in the competition with my lifelong club."

The Spaniard has again been an important player for the Yellow Submarine during the 2022-23 campaign, featuring on 24 occasions in all competitions, but the club are facing an uphill battle to qualify for next season's Champions League, currently sitting down in ninth position in La Liga.

According to Fichajes, Villarreal are open to selling Torres during this summer's transfer window, with the club setting an asking price of €50m (£44.3m).

The report claims that Real Madrid are keen on the defender, who has entered the final 18 months of his current deal, meaning that Quique Setien's side are not in a strong position ahead of the summer market.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are said to be looking to reignite their interest, but Antonio Conte's side are likely to face competition from North London rivals Arsenal.

Torres came through the youth system at Villarreal, progressing through the various age groups and also representing Villarreal B before making his first-team debut in 2017.

The Spaniard has featured on 158 occasions for his current side in all competitions, contributing 11 goals and five assists in the process.

Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Juventus are also believed to be keeping a close eye on Torres's situation ahead of the summer transfer market.
