Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski reveals that both Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos tried to coax him to Real Madrid earlier in his career.

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo asked him to join Real Madrid during the Portugal international's time at the Bernabeu.

Lewandowski once scored four goals in a game against Madrid while playing for Borussia Dortmund in 2013, helping the German outfit to knock Los Blancos out of the Champions League en route to the final.

However, when the time came for the Pole to leave Dortmund he chose Bayern instead of the Spanish capital, and he is sure that he made the right decision despite Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos both trying to coax him to Spain.

"'I am at one of the best clubs in the world, and I know I can be happy here. We are at a very high level, from the playing squad to the sporting facilities. It's all much easier when playing for a club like this," he told Diario AS.

"Yes [it's true] (Ronaldo and Ramos spoke asked him about joining Madrid). You can go to the Spanish league or to one in another country, another great club. But for me, it was not the most important thing.

"Where I am, I have been able to reach my maximum level, and I want to continue doing well."

Lewandowski has scored 230 goals in just 275 appearances since joining Bayern, including 39 in only 33 outings across all competitions this season.
