Tottenham Hotspur should move for Leicester City's James Maddison as a replacement for Christian Eriksen, according to pundit Matt Le Tissier.

Former Southampton attacker Matt Le Tissier has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur should move for Leicester City's James Maddison as a replacement for Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen will see his current deal with Spurs expire at the end of the 2019-20 campaign, and the Denmark international is widely expected to leave either in January or next summer.

Maddison, meanwhile, has been linked with a number of clubs after impressing for Leicester over the last 12 months, and Le Tissier has said that Mauricio Pochettino's side should be looking at the 22-year-old.

"[Maddison] is a player that would be on the radar of a team like Spurs, especially if they were to lose Christian Eriksen," Le Tissier told Sky Sports News.

"You look at James Maddison and he would be a pretty ideal replacement. I think this boy has got everything in his locker.

"He has been quite unfortunate that he has not already been capped by England. I really do think that his performances at Leicester warranted him making his debut before he actually got in the squad."

Maddison has contributed one goal and two assists in six league appearances for the Foxes this season, but the playmaker missed Sunday's 5-0 win over Newcastle United due to an ankle problem.
