Tottenham Hotspur must sell Christian Eriksen if the Denmark international continues to stall on signing a new deal, according to former Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson.

Former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paul Robinson has insisted that the club must sell Christian Eriksen if the Denmark international continues to stall on signing a new deal.

Eriksen will see his existing contract with Spurs expire at the end of the 2019-20 campaign, and the likes of Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona have been linked with a swoop for the playmaker.

Robinson has said that his former club "have to cash in" on the 27-year-old if it becomes clear that he cannot be convinced to pen fresh terms at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

"I'd be surprised if they do keep hold of him due to the fact that he still hasn't signed his contract that he has been offered," Robinson told Sky Sports News.

"He's made noises that he is ready for a new challenge. He's been at the club now for six years now and the fact that he hasn't signed a new contract going into his final year - I think it does have an effect on the team.

"I think it does have an effect on the players around him and I think genuinely if he did want to stay and his heart was there he would have signed it by now. The chairman has obviously put a price tag on his head [and] they have to get value for money. If he's not going to sign a contract then they have to cash in."

Earlier this month, it was reported that Eriksen was continuing to snub contact talks with Mauricio Pochettino's side, who have placed a £200,000-a-week offer on the table.
