Tottenham Hotspur target Nikola Vlasic to stay at Hajduk Split?

Reported Tottenham target Nikola Vlasic would benefit from continuing his development at Hajduk Split, according to the father of the 16-year-old Croatian midfielder.

The father of reported Tottenham Hotspur target Nikola Vlasic has admitted that it would be best for his development to remain at Hajduk Split this summer.

Spurs have been linked with an interest in the 16-year-old Croatian midfielder, who has been dubbed the new Luka Modric and is valued at approximately £6m.

However, Josko Vlasic has insisted that it would be too soon for his son to make the move to the Premier League and hopes that financially-stricken Hajduk resist the temptation to cash in on him.

"It would be best for him and his development to stay at Hajduk," he told 24sata.

"It would make no sense for him to move away so young, regardless of the money involved. I know that Hajduk have no money but I don't believe that they are thinking about selling him."

Vlasic's compatriot Modric made the switch to Spurs aged 22 and went on to make 161 appearances for the Lillywhites before moving to Real Madrid for £32m in 2012.
