Clarke Carlisle 'prays' for lorry driver he jumped in front of in suicide bid

Clarke Carlisle reveals that he prays every day for the lorry driver who hit him after the ex-footballer jumped in front of his vehicle in a suicide attempt in December.

Former Premier League footballer Clarke Carlisle has publicly apologised to the lorry driver he jumped in front of during a recent suicide attempt.

The 35-year-old spent six weeks in hospital after getting hit by the lorry on the A64 in Yorkshire last December.

The man behind the wheel, Darren Pease, has since admitted that he has been suffering from regular "flashbacks" of the incident.

"I think about him and pray for him every day," Carlisle said this morning on ITV's Good Morning Britain. "I am so sorry to him. I'm so sorry for what my actions will have done to him because it will be equally a traumatic experience for him as it was for me and my family."

Carlisle has been suffering from bouts of depression for 15 years.
