Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale insists his position as number one is not cemented with Germany international Bernd Leno knocking on the door.

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has insisted that his position as number one is not cemented amid competition from Bernd Leno.

After the German started the first three games of the Premier League season, Ramsdale has since come into the side, and he marked his first two appearances with clean sheets.

The 23-year-old, who arrived at the Emirates Stadium in the summer, has now made six consecutive appearances for the Gunners in the English top flight, with Mikel Arteta's side remaining unbeaten in that time and only conceding four goals.

The Englishman has insisted he is not established as the main goalkeeper though, telling AFC Wimbledon's official site: "It could quite easily be taken away, just as quickly as I got in. For me, it's to stay in the team week-by-week and keep producing good performances which the team and the staff are happy with."

"That's all I'm bothered about. I'm loving the connection I've got with the fans there, like I did here, but ultimately, they are not the ones picking the team. If I keep the manager happy, which I'm doing now, I'll be doing well."

Ramsdale arrived in north London from Sheffield United in the summer after suffering consecutive relegations from the Premier League with Bournemouth and the Blades.
