Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. West Bromwich Albion

Sports Mole rounds up all of Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the champions' Premier League clash with West Bromwich Albion.

Liverpool face West Bromwich Albion in their first post-Christmas fixture aiming to build on a famous 7-0 victory over Crystal Palace last time out in the Premier League.

The Reds ran riot against Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday - the first time that they have ever won an away top-flight match by a seven-goal margin.

Jurgen Klopp's men have an eight-day gap between matches, giving them a chance to get some of their injured players back to fitness in time for a mad rush of fixtures.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news.

Diogo Jota

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: February 6 (vs. Manchester City)

Diogo Jota made an impressive start to life at Liverpool upon joining from Wolverhampton Wanderers, but the Portugal international sustained a knee injury against FC Midtjylland earlier this month and is out for at least another month.

Possible return date: February 6 (vs. Manchester City)

Like fellow summer signing Jota, Kostas Tsimikas is also expected to be sidelined until early February with a knee injury sustained in the same match.

Joe Gomez

Joe Gomez suffered a serious knee injury while away on international duty with England in November, potentially ruling the centre-back out until the final stages of the season.

Virgil van Dijk

Possible return date: Unknown

While Gomez has a chance of being fit again this term, fellow centre-back Virgil van Dijk is facing a longer spell on the sidelines. The Dutchman returned to Liverpool's training ground last week, but a summer return to action is likely.

Xherdan Shaqiri

Xherdan Shaqiri has not been used since prior to the last international break in November. The Swiss attacker, plagued by a number of injury setbacks during his time at Anfield, returned to training this week.

James Milner

Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: December 27 (vs. West Brom)

Klopp hit out at TV broadcasters following James Milner's recent injury, the versatile midfielder sustaining a hamstring injury in the early kickoff, a few days on from a midweek Champions League match. Milner is back in training and closing in on a return.

Thiago Alcantara

Thiago Alcantara suffered a knee injury in the same game that saw Van Dijk ruled out for the season. The midfielder was only expected to miss a couple of matches, but he has missed 15 games and has still not been given a comeback date, despite returning to training on Thursday 24.
