Barcelona could move for either Chelsea's Timo Werner or Manchester United's Edinson Cavani in January, according to a report.

Barcelona are reportedly considering targeting either Chelsea's Timo Werner or Manchester United's Edinson Cavani during the January transfer window.

The Catalan outfit, despite their financial problems, are planning to boost their attack at the start of 2022 and appear to have cooled their interest in Manchester City's Raheem Sterling.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona could now turn to either Werner or Cavani to boost their attack, with head coach Xavi desperate to bring in reinforcements in the final third of the field.

Cavani's current deal with Man United is due to expire next June, and it has been claimed that the Catalan side are lining up a £5m move for the Uruguay international.

Werner, though, still has three and a half years left to run on his contract at Chelsea, and the 25-year-old has been a regular this season, making 11 appearances in all competitions.

There have been suggestions that Sergio Aguero could be forced to announce his retirement from professional football due to his heart problems.
