Late goal from Benjamin Moukandjo gives Reims slender win over Bastia

A late finish from Benjamin Moukandjo is enough to hand Reims all three points with a tight 2-1 victory over Bastia in Ligue 1.

Benjamin Moukandjo's finish five minutes from time has handed Reims a slender 2-1 victory over travelling Bastia in Ligue 1 this evening.

Reims came out of the blocks at a quicker pace and they soon found themselves in front when Franck Signorino produced a teasing ball for David Ngog, allowing the striker to fire into the net from a rather difficult angle.

At first, Bastia struggled to create as they went in search of an equaliser, but did have long-range shot through Hervin Ongenda, who drilled in low from distance to see his effort comfortably stopped by Johny Placide.

Following a number of shots from distance, the visitors forced a corner off Aissa Mandi just minutes before half time and the resulting delivery found Francois Modesto, who could not miss and made it 1-1 at the break.

Gaetan Charbonnier looked to wrestle the game in favour of Reims in the second half as he produced a fine effort from distance, which was stopped by a diving Alphonse Areola down low.

The home side finally got the breakthrough goal five minutes from time when Moukandjo got on the end of Charbonnier's cross to simply tap in and snatch his team all three points.
