Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah will have the chance to break two Premier League scoring records in Sunday's Premier League clash with Manchester United.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah will attempt to break two Premier League scoring records in Sunday's clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Reds are currently sitting top of the Premier League table with a two-point advantage over Arsenal and a three-point buffer over Manchester City.

Liverpool remain in pole position after recording a 3-1 victory in Thursday's home game against Sheffield United thanks to goals from Darwin Nunez, Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo.

Jurgen Klopp's side have managed to avoid defeat in each of their last seven Premier League games since losing to Arsenal at the beginning of February.

While they have proven to be a tough team to beat in the Premier League, Liverpool did fall to defeat in last month's FA Cup quarter-final against Man United.

Salah targeting Old Trafford milestone

The Red Devils came from behind on a couple of occasions to record a 4-3 extra-time victory following Amad Diallo's 121st-minute winner.

While it proved to be a disappointing game for Liverpool, Salah managed to score his 13th goal in 14 competitive appearances against Man United.

The Egypt international will be determined to produce another goalscoring display this weekend, especially as he has the chance to set two Premier League records.

Having scored in his last three league appearances at Old Trafford, Salah is looking to become the first opposition player to find the net in four consecutive Premier League games against Man United.

Salah's most memorable display at Old Trafford took place in October 2021 when he netted a hat-trick to lead Liverpool to a statement 5-0 victory over their rivals.

Can Salah surpass Shearer?

The Egypt international also has the opportunity to become the leading Premier League goalscorer against Man United.

After scoring 10 top-flight goals against the Red Devils, Salah currently shares the record with former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer.

Salah will certainly feel that he has a critical role to play this weekend, having scored 22 goals and provided 13 assists in 34 competitive appearances this season.

Mac Allister will also provide an attacking threat after registering five goals and five assists in his previous 10 matches in all competitions, including a goal in last month's FA Cup loss to Man United.
